How to Balance your Social Media Accounts

By: Autumn Addley

Running several Social Media accounts can become very stressful, especially if you’re running the accounts alone. Over the past couple of weeks, I have learned about two different platforms that social media professionals should use to manage their accounts. These two platforms are Sprout Social and Hootsuite.

I first heard about Sprout Social from a guest speaker in my Sports Journalism class.

Sprout Social  is a social media management software program that helps companies connect with people who are fans of your company. Sprout Social is a helpful tool to keep track of your social media analytics. This platform makes sure that your company is measuring its performance efficiently. A great tool that Sprout Social has is that it helps with your company’s engagement with their fans. This platform helps you see all your messages from every social media platform you run. This also helps you tag, have conversations, and respond to fans on all social media platforms. This is a great way to interact with fans without the content and messages becoming lost in your feed.

Another helpful social media management software is Hootsuite. I first learned about this management system in my Social Media Strategy course and thought it was very beneficial for a company to run their social media. Just like Sprout Social, Hootsuite can help your company keep track of your social media across all platforms.

One thing that I learned while trying out Hootsuite is that you can schedule when you would like a post to be made on your social media account. Similar to Sprout Social, Hootsuite can manage your social media content in a super easy fashion. Also another similar feature that Sprout Social and Hootsuite share is that you can follow the analytics with your company and its interactions. Along with Sprout Social, Hootsuite is another great platform to help organize your social media accounts.

As a student in social media I think both platforms are both extremely helpful for a company to track their social media accounts. I’m extremely grateful that these platforms were mentioned in both my classes throughout this semester. Hearing about these platforms will always be in the back of my mind, especially if i land a job running social media accounts.
